Cross Country is a UIL sport and our season starts in August and ends in late October or early November depending on if the team qualifies for regionals and/or state. We usually run 6 to 7 meets a year and most of the races are 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles long. Here at Bowie we will take any and all runners. Some of our runners are very advanced and run 40 to 50 miles per week during the season. Others are new to running and are just looking to stay in shape for other sports, practice healthy habits, or be a part of an awesome community. As long as you show up to practice and work hard we have a spot for you. Running is about individual determination and pushing yourself beyond what you thought possible. It is just as rewarding for us coaches to see improvement in our novice runners as it is to see improvement in our elite runners.
We host workouts throughout the summer every Monday - Thursday that are open to all high school and middle school students within the Bowie Vertical Team. Official practices begin the first week of August. During the season, we practice every weekday early in the mornings before school. Occasionally we will have weekend workouts.

Our Summer Program is every Monday - Thursday from 7am to 8:30. We take the week of July 4th off. For a flat fee $50 you can come to as many Summer Workouts as you wish. We realize many people travel in the summer and that is great! Just make as many workouts as you can! Payments can be made by check to "Bowie Cross Country" or through school-cash-online by clicking on the link below. If making payment by check just bring the check with you when you show up to your first Summer Workout.
